Good feedback is important to support learners’ confidence and development throughout their learning journey. The tone and writing of any feedback should be encouraging. When providing feedback, it is essential to ensure that the feedback is constructive, informative, and supportive. Here are some key features of good feedback:

  • Constructive: Good feedback should be constructive, offering specific suggestions for improvement rather than simply pointing out errors or shortcomings. It should guide how the learner can enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Timely: Providing prompt feedback allows learners to reflect on their performance while it is still fresh in their minds. This enables them to make immediate adjustments and progress further.
  • Clear and Specific: The language used in the feedback should be clear and easy to understand. Avoid using jargon or technical terms that the learner may not be familiar with. Feedback should be specific, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement. By providing concrete examples or evidence, learners can better understand what they have done well and where they can focus their efforts.
